Q: Who is this challenge for?

A: Any entrepreneur building, or aiming to build a ‘product business’ (see next question), who is interested to practice tools to identify their market demand, competitive and product positioning, to maximize their success ratio. 

Q: What do you mean by a ‘product business’? 

A: A product business is any business where a product (rather than merely a person doing the work 100% manually) is providing some of the value to its customers. 

If your business is a pure service business, where 100% of the value is provided using humans, and you have no interest in “productizing” some of that value via a digital product, a software product or a physical product, than this challenge, and the long term value and passion that I am sharing for product businesses, might not be for you.

Q: Can a service business incorporate some product thinking to automate some of the processes delivering customer value?

A: Absolutely ! There are many ways. Think of the many pieces of your service, and which one can be automated with a digital asset.
As an example, if you do coaching, you could create a digital course, a software product or mobile app product for your customers, which would be classic product assets in your business delivering value to your customers. 
But there are simpler examples as well. For instance, if you do business consulting, you could automate your sales and marketing in many ways, which can become ‘funnel product assets’ in your business. You could automate some of the emails or sms notifications to customers, starting with simple booking reminders, all the way to personalizing consulting tips based on their program progress. This type of automation would become a ‘product asset’ in your business. There are endless possibilities for adding product assets throughout the customer acquisition or customer retention in any business. If that’s something you are interested to do – you’ll enjoy the challenge and get a lot out of it. 

Q: Who is this challenge not suitable for?

A: Number one, if you are (and interested to remain) a service business, relying 100% on your manual work, than this challenge is probably not for you.
